Current Codes Using Consult Tester

- Turn ignition off. Connect CONSULT tester using CONSULT CONVERTER to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Touch START (NISSAN BASED VHCL) on CONSULT tester. Touch AIRBAG. Touch SELF-DIAG (CURRENT). If malfunction is indicated by AIR BAG warning light but no codes are displayed on CONSULT tester, inspect battery voltage. If battery voltage is less than 9 volts, repair charging system. If battery voltage is okay, diagnostic code may not have been erased from a previous repair. If diagnostic codes are displayed on CONSULT tester, compare codes to fault messages. - If any problems are present, message will be displayed in SELF-DIAG (CURRENT) mode. Touch PRINT. Press BACK button until SELECT SYSTEM appears. Turn off CONSULT tester. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CONSULT tester and CONSULT CONVERTER from DLC. Disconnect negative battery cable. After repair is completed, codes must be cleared. See CLEARING CODES .
