Disc RUNOUT

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus ES 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove front wheel. Remove caliper support assembly and suspend aside. Turn disc 1/5 turn and reinstall. Install and tighten 3 hub nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Using a dial indicator, measure disc runout. See Fig 1. Make a note of runout and disc's position on hub. Repeat removing, turning, installing and measuring until disc has been installed on all hub positions.
  3. If minimum runout recorded in second and third position is less than specification, install disc in that position. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS . If minimum runout recorded is greater than specification, replace disc and repeat procedure. It is possible to adjust disc runout by grinding it with an "On-car" brake lathe.
  4. Install torque plate and tighten 2 bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
