Intermittent Codes Using Consult Tester

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel, using CONSULT CONVERTER. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Touch START (NISSAN BASED VHCL). Touch AIR BAG. Touch SELF-DIAG PAST. If diagnostic codes are displayed, go to step 3. If no diagnostic codes are displayed, go to next step.
    2. NOTE: When TROUBLE DIAG RECORD is selected, codes previously erased will be displayed.
  2. Touch BACK until SELECT DIAG MODE is displayed. Touch TROUBLE DIAG RECORD. Diagnostic code will be displayed. Go to next step.
  3. Touch PRINT. Compare codes to intermittent fault messages. See INTERMITTENT FAULT MESSAGES  . Touch BACK until SELECT SYSTEM appears. Turn ignition off. Turn off CONSULT tester. Disconnect CONSULT tester from DLC. Disconnect both battery cables. After repair is complete, codes must be cleared. See CLEARING CODES  .
