System Operation Check

Turn ignition on. AIR BAG warning light should come on for about 7 seconds and then go off, indicating air bag system is okay.

If AIR BAG warning light does not come on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
If AIR BAG warning light stays on, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
If AIR BAG warning light comes on for about 7 seconds, goes off, then starts flashing a repetitive pattern of 0.5 second ON and 0.5 second OFF, a fault code is set in memory. Go to RETRIEVING CODES under DIAGNOSTICS.
