Intermittent Codes Using CONSULT Tester

NOTE: Intermittent and past codes cannot be retrieved using AIR BAG warning light.
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below fuse block under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Touch START on CONSULT tester. Touch AIR BAG. Touch SELF-DIAG (PAST).
  2. If any problems are present, message will be displayed in SELF-DIAG (PAST) mode. Compare displayed codes to intermittent fault messages. Go to INTERMITTENT FAULT MESSAGES  . Touch PRINT. Touch BACK until SELECT SYSTEM appears. Turn ignition off. Turn off CONSULT tester. Disconnect CONSULT tester from DLC. Disconnect both battery cables. After repair is completed, codes must be cleared. See CLEARING CODES  .
NOTE: System will not enter DIAGNOSTIC mode if no malfunction is detected in USER mode.
