Using Consult Tester

  1. After repairing system, connect both battery cables. Connect CONSULT tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Touch START on CONSULT tester. Touch AIR BAG. Touch SELF-DIAG (CURRENT). If no malfunction is detected, repair is complete. Touch ERASE to erase code retained in memory. If trouble code is not erased, AIR BAG warning light will continue to indicate a malfunction.
  2. If fault message is displayed, either the malfunction has not been repaired, or another malfunction has been detected. Repair malfunction indicated. See PRESENT FAULT MESSAGES  .
  3. Touch BACK. Touch SELF DIAG (PAST). Ensure no self-diagnostic fault message is present. Touch BACK until SELECT SYSTEM appears. Turn off CONSULT tester. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CONSULT tester from DLC.
