Side Impact AIR Bag Module

  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove side air bag module. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Drill two 0.256" (6.5 mm) holes in Deployment Bracket (J41246). See Fig 1 . Attach side air bag module in deployment bracket using 6 mm nuts. Mount bracket securely in vise. Position fully charged 12-volt battery at least 16 feet (5 m) from deployment area. Connect Air Bag Deployment Tool (J38381) to seat belt pretensioner electrical connector. Connect Red deployment tool clip to positive battery terminal and Black deployment tool clip to negative battery terminal.
  3. Ensure deployment tool power light glows Green. If deployment tool power light glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck light. Ensure no one is within 16 feet (5 m) of air bag module. Press deployment tool button to instantly deploy air bag module.
