Section 991 (Rear Sunshade System): Inspection

  1. INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH (in Rear seat control) 
    CONNECTOR TERMINALS SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition
    OFF - No continuity
    ON 1 - 2 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE SWITCH 
    CONNECTOR TERMINALS SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition
    OFF - No continuity
    ON 6 - 7 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  3. Disconnect connector: INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE CONTROL RELAY 

    Disconnect the connector from the rear sunshade relay and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown.

    CONNECTOR TERMINALS SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    3 - Ground Rear sunshade switch OFF No continuity
    3 - Ground Rear sunshade switch ON Continuity
    5 - Ground Constant Continuity
    1 - Ground Ignition switch OFF or ACC No voltage
    1 - Ground Ignition switch ON Battery positive voltage

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the rear sunshade relay.

  4. Connect connector: INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE CONTROL RELAY 

    Connect the connector from the rear sunshade relay and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown.

    CONNECTOR TERMINALS SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    2 - Ground Ignition switch ON and shift lever P position No voltage
    2 - Ground Ignition switch ON and shift lever R position Battery positive voltage
    4 - Ground Ignition switch ON and rear sunshade switch (rear seat control switch) ON No voltage
    4 - Ground Ignition switch ON and rear sunshade switch (rear seat control switch) OFF Battery positive voltage

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the rear sunshade control relay.

  5. INSPECT REAR SUNSHADE MOTOR 
    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3, and check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
    2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the rear sunshade assembly.

  6. INSPECT SUB WIRE HARNESS (In Rear armrest) 
    CONNECTOR TERMINALS SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection specified condition
    A1 - B16 Continuity
    A2 - B7 Continuity
