Diagnosis Procedure
Regarding Wiring Diagram information, refer to "WIRING DIAGRAM-ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM- ".
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTION-I
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check ground connection E9. Refer to Ground Inspection in
"CIRCUIT INSPECTION
".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Repair or replace ground connection.
- CHECK ECM GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT-I
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and ground.
ECM Ground Continuity Connector Terminal F14 12 Ground Existed 16 E10 107 108 111 112 - Also check harness for short to power.
is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 4.
NO: GO TO 3.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E11, F2
- Harness for open or short between ECM and ground
: Repair open circuit, short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
- Reconnect ECM harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch OFF and then ON.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connectors.
ECM Voltage Connector + - Terminal Terminal E10 93 112 Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 6.
NO: GO TO 5.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- IPDM E/R connector E18
- 10 A fuse (No. 35)
- Harness for open or short between ECM and fuse
: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connectors.
ECM Voltage Connector + - Terminal Terminal E10 105 112 After turning ignition switch OFF, battery voltage will exist for a few seconds, then drop to approximately 0 V. Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 7.
NO: GO TO 9.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check the voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.
IPDM E/R Ground Voltage Connector Terminal F10 49 Ground Battery voltage 53 Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 8.
NO: Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
: INSPECTION END
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-IV
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Check the voltage between ECM harness connectors.
ECM Voltage + - Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F14 24 E10 112 Battery voltage Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 12.
NO: GO TO 10.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-V
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
ECM IPDM E/R Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F14 24 F10 69 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 11.
NO: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK 15 A FUSE
- Disconnect 15 A fuse (No. 42) from IPDM E/R.
- Check 15 A fuse.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 14.
NO: Replace 15 A fuse.
- CHECK ECM POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-VI
- Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.
ECM IPDM E/R Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E10 105 E18 10 Existed - Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 14.
NO: GO TO 13.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Junction block connectors E44, E45
- Harness for open or short between ECM and IPDM E/R
: Repair open circuit, short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
NO: Repair or replace harness or connectors.
