Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
- Remove the fuel level sensor unit, fuel filter and fuel pump assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation (AWD), Removal and Installation (FWD).
- Turn the four retainers (A) 90° to disengage clips and remove fuel level sensor unit (sub) inspection hole cover.
: Front - Disconnect the harness connector from the fuel level sensor unit (sub).
- Remove the lock ring from the fuel level sensor unit (sub).NOTE:
Make a paint mark on the sub fuel level sensor assembly and fuel tank for an alignment reference during installation.
- Remove the fuel level sensor unit (sub).CAUTION:
- Do not bend float arm during removal.
- Do not tip fuel level sensor unit (sub) to avoid spilling fuel that remains in fuel level sensor unit (sub). Use a shop cloth to catch any fuel that spills.
- Do not drop or bump fuel level sensor unit (sub).
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Install O-ring to fuel tank.
- Align tabs (A) of the fuel level sensor unit (sub) with retainer pawl (C).
(B) : Matching mark - Check the connection for damage or any foreign materials.
- Align the connector with the tube, then insert the connector straight into the tube until a "click" sound is heard.
- After connecting, check that the connection is secured with following procedures.
- Before installing inspection hole cover, check that the connecting part has no fuel leaks. Refer to Inspection .
- Install inspection hole cover with the front mark (arrow) facing front.
- Lock inspection hole cover clips by turning 90°.
