Tune-Up Notes Changes, Cautions, Corrections: Notes
- 1967 ROCHESTER 4MV CARBURETOR HOT ROUGH IDLE CORRECTION: Cars With Day Stamp Between 250 & 285): See "Rochester 4MV" on Page 2-355 .
- 1967 ROCHESTER 4MV ROUGH OR RICH IDLE OR HARD HOT START CORRECTION (Carburetors With Tag Letter "H" or "J"). See Tune-Up, and appropriate carburetor article in CARBURETION Section .
- CAPACITOR DISCHARGE IGNITION NOTE: System differs from ordinary transistor ignition in that a capacitor (condenser) discharges approximately 300 volts through the coil primary. The coil boosts this voltage into the necessary secondary voltage to fire the plug. Capacitor Discharge coil and distributor cap are colored red. The coil cannot be tested on an ordinary coil tester. Tachometers must be connected to the special terminal on the coil bracket.
- COMPRESSION TESTING CAUTION: All spark plugs must be removed, engine warm, throttle wide open, and engine turning at normal cranking speed.
- REMOTE STARTING CAUTION: When using remote starter button to turn over or start engine, ignition switch must be in ON position. If ignition switch is in OFF position, internal ground circuit in switch will be damaged.
- IDLE SPEED SETTING CAUTION:
Transmission stator must be in high angle position at curb idle. Test by attaching light across switch terminals. Light should be on at idle. Switch is on carburetor linkage at firewall.NOTE: For other items affecting Tune-Up, see Diagnosis, Testing & Trouble Shooting at rear of book and appropriate carburetor story in CARBURETION section.DISTRIBUTOR
