Using Tester J-22368

This Tester is used to locate malfunctions in the system. Operating instructions are attached to the pack of the tester.

Step 2 states "Disconnect large vacuum hose from transducer and insert tester tee in vacuum line". However, on all Oldsmobile models (except Toronado) remove the vacuum hose from power servo and insert tester tee in this vacuum line as it is more easily accessible. On all car models (including Toronado), Step 4 should be amended, since the only correction listed is a defective transducer. If the diaphragm in the vacuum relay is ruptured, the same problem will be encountered as a defective transducer. To determine which unit is defective, pinch the vacuum hose between the tester and the vacuum relay. If tester still indicates a defective transducer, then replace it. If problem is now cured, then replace vacuum relay.
