Change Engine Oil Indicator Not Operating Properly

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS. Go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC and turn ignition on. Select Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) special functions LAMP TEST on scan tool. Command indicators on and off. If CHANGE OIL indicator turns on and off when commanded, go to POWERTRAIN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - GASOLINE - EXCEPT METRO, PRIZM & TRACKER article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If CHANGE OIL indicator does not turn on and off when commanded, go to next step.
  3. Replace instrument panel cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
