Test B: Anti-Lock Indicator Inoperative
- Perform diagnostic system check. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. After performing diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM connector. Connect ABS pinout box to connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between pinout box terminal No. 1 and ground. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 11) .
- Remove ABS main relay. Turn ignition to start. Using DVOM, measure voltage between pinout box terminals No. 52 and 1. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 12) .
- Turn ignition to start. Connect a fused jumper between pinout box terminals No. 52 and 1. If ANTI-LOCK warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If ANTI-LOCK warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step 17) .
- Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, check ABS diode by checking polarity between pinout box terminals No. 3 and 52. If ABS diode is okay, go to next step. If ABS diode is faulty, go to step 18) .
- Disconnect ABS pinout box from EBCM/EBTCM connector. Reinstall ABS main relay and reconnect all connectors. Turn ignition to start. If ANTI-LOCK warning indicator illuminates for 2-4 seconds and then goes out, see INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If ANTI-LOCK warning indicator does not illuminates for 2-4 seconds and then go out, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove ABS main relay. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals No. 30 (Red wire) and No. 87A (Black wire) of ABS main relay. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 19) .
- Remove ABS fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Turn ignition to start. Using DVOM set on DC scale, measure voltage between terminal No. 30 (Red wire) of ABS main relay connector and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 20) .
- Measure voltage between terminals No. 30 (Red wire) and No. 87A (Black wire) of ABS main relay connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 21) .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EBCM/EBTCM connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminal No. 85 (Pink wire) of ABS main relay connector and ground. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to step 22) . If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 23) .
- Repair open or high resistance in Black/White wire between EBCM/EBTCM and ground connection.
- Turn ignition off. Check 10-amp IGN fuse in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step 14) .
- Repair short to ground in Pink wire between instrument panel fuse block and instrument cluster, or White wire between instrument cluster, ABS diode and EBCM/EBTCM.
- Remove and check ANTI-LOCK warning indicator bulb from instrument cluster. If bulb is blown, go to next step. If bulb is okay, go to step 16) .
- Replace ANTI-LOCK warning indicator bulb.
- Repair open or high resistance in Pink wire between instrument panel fuse block and instrument cluster, or White wire between instrument cluster, ABS diode and EBCM/EBTCM.
- Repair short to voltage in White wire between instrument cluster, ABS diode and EBCM/EBTCM. Check ABS diode and ABS main relay for damage.
- Replace ABS diode and observe polarity.
- Replace ABS main relay.
- Repair open or high resistance in Red wire between ABS main relay, ABS diode and EBCM/EBTCM.
- Repair open or high resistance in Black wire between ABS main relay and ground connection.
- Repair short to ground in Pink wire between ABS main relay and EBCM/EBTCM.
- Repair or replace wiring harness connector as necessary. Clear DTCs and verify operation. If system operates properly, see INTERMITTENTS & POOR CONNECTIONS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If system does not operate properly, go to next step.
- Replace EBCM/EBTCM.
