DTC B1422: BCM Power Malfunction: Testing

  1. Perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . Go to next step.
  2. Check CRANK SIGNAL fuse (10-amp) located in fuse block. Fuse block is located on right end of instrument panel near door. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Replace CRANK SIGNAL fuse. Turn ignition switch to START position (engine may start). Recheck condition of CRANK SIGNAL fuse. If fuse is blown, go to step  13 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  4. Check IGN 0 fuse (10-amp) located in fuse block. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  6 .
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Replace IGN 0 fuse. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Recheck condition of IGN 0 fuse. If fuse is blown, go to step  14 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using a test light connected to ground, backprobe BCM connector C1 terminal "J" (Pink wire). See Fig 1 . If test light does not illuminated, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step  15 .
  7. With test light connected as in previous step, turn ignition switch to RUN and START positions (engine may start). Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. If test light illuminates in RUN and START positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in RUN and START positions, go to step  16 .
  8. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. With test light connected to ground, backprobe BCM connector C3 terminal B9 (Purple wire). See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  17 .

  9. With test light connected as in previous step, turn ignition switch to RUN and START positions (engine may start). Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. If test light illuminates in RUN and START positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in RUN and START positions, go to step  18 .
  10. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. With test light connected to ground, backprobe BCM connector C3 terminal B10 (Purple wire). See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  19 .
  11. With test light connected as in previous step, turn ignition switch to ACC, RUN and START positions (engine may start). Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. If test light illuminates in ACC, RUN and START positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in ACC, RUN and START positions, go to step  20 .
  12. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear BCM DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Recheck for BCM DTCs. If DTC B1422 resets as current, go to step  21 . If BCM DTC B1422 does not reset as current, go to step  22 .
  13. Repair short to ground in Purple wire between BCM connector and CRANK SIGNAL fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  14. Repair short to ground in Purple wire between BCM connector and IGN 0 fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  15. Repair short to voltage in Pink wire between BCM connector and PCM-BCM fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  16. Repair open or high resistance in Pink wire between BCM connector and PCM-BCM fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  17. Repair short to voltage in Purple wire between BCM connector and CRANK SIGNAL fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  18. Repair open or high resistance in Purple wire between BCM connector and CRANK SIGNAL fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  19. Repair short to voltage in Purple wire between BCM connector and IGN 0 fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  20. Repair open or high resistance in Purple wire between BCM connector and IGN 0 fuse in fuse block. After repairs, go to step  23 .
  21. Check for poor terminal contact at BCM connector C1. If terminal contact is okay, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform new BCM setup. See NEW BCM SETUP  under PROGRAMMING. After programming BCM, go to step  23 .
  22. Symptom does not exist at this time. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  for additional diagnostic information.
  23. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Reinstall all components and connectors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Check for DTCs. If any DTCs are current, perform BCM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  . If no DTCs are current, system is operating properly at this time.
