Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new water pump gasket.
  2. Install the water pump.
  3. Loosely install the long water pump bolts.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Loosely install the short water pump bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 14 N.m (124 lb in).

  5. Install the water pump pulley.
  6. Install the water pump pulley bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  7. Install the idler pulley and the bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT in Engine Mechanical -3.5L.
  9. Install the surge tank outlet hose. Refer to Surge Tank Hose/Pipe Replacement - Outlet .
  10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
