The theft deterrent system on this vehicle is comprised of the Passlock(tm) system. Passlock(tm) system prevents drive away theft by preventing the vehicle from starting. The SECURITY indicator on the instrument cluster is controlled by theft deterrent system.
The Passlock(tm) system is provided to prevent vehicle theft if the ignition lock cylinder is forced to rotate or the ignition switch is operated while separated from the ignition lock cylinder case. If starting is attempted without authorization from the Passlock(tm) System, the PCM will disable the fuel injectors causing the engine to stall immediately after starting.
The components of the Passlock(tm) System are as follows:
- Ignition lock cylinder and key.
- Ignition lock cylinder case, including the Passlock(tm) sensor.
- Ignition switch.
- BCM.
- SECURITY indicator on instrument cluster.
- PCM.
