Engine Under Load Pressure Test
- Using a "T" connector and a flexible hose of adequate length, connect gauge in parallel to the air hose to the LDA. Bring gauge into the passenger compartment and in a manner that it can be viewed while driving the vehicle.
- Drive vehicle at about 2000 RPM (preferably on an incline). At 2000 RPM, under full load, the boost pressure should reach 8.7 psi (.64 kg/cm2 ).
- If not, check the condition of the air filter. Also, check for obstruction of the intake and exhaust circuits and the condition of the rubber connecting hose between the turbo and intake manifold.
NOTE:
The turbocharger is not repairable. If the turbocharger is diagnosed as defective, replace it as a unit.
