Variable-Assist Controls
- Connect a 12-volt, 1.2 watt lamp between battery positive terminal and terminal No. 12A M899 (located on inner front left fender).
- Turn ignition to "ON" position. Check that lamp flashes. If lamp flashes 3 times, variable-assist system is working properly. If fault is still present, check hydraulic pressures. Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PRESSURE CHECK
.
- If lamp flashes 2 times, check electrical circuit between ECU and servo regulator for shorts, open circuits or loose or dirty connections.
- If lamp flashes one time, check electrical circuit between ECU and speed sensor for shorts, open circuits or loose or dirty connections.
- If lamp does not flash, check power circuit to ECU for shorts, open circuits or loose or dirty connections. If circuit checks satisfactory, replace ECU. Retest variable-assist system.
