Carburetor - SOLEX DIDTA 2-Bbl: Overhaul: Disassembly

NOTE: DO NOT  invert carburetor during disassembly. This will cause accelerator pump check weight and ball, and steel ball for anti-overfill device to fall out.

1. Disconnect water hose from throttle body to choke chamber. Grind heads off choke cover lock screws and remove cover. Disconnect ground wire from fuel cut-off solenoid at cover assembly.
2. Remove throttle return spring and damper spring. On model 28-32 carburetors, remove throttle adjuster lever spring and secondary return spring. Disconnect lower end of throttle opener link from lever.
3. Remove 2 attaching screws and remove throttle opener assembly. Remove choke unloader link retaining clip and disconnect link. Disconnect vacuum hose and lower end of diaphragm link.
4. Remove top diaphragm nut, without deforming diaphragm bracket, and remove diaphragm. Remove 2 attaching screws and remove air switching valve. Remove 5 attaching screws and remove float chamber cover assembly.
5. Remove gasket, float lever pin, float assembly, needle valve assembly, gasket and filter. Remove coasting air valve screws and valve. Invert main body and remove pump discharge check ball and weight.
6. DO NOT  remove automatic choke assembly. Removing choke assembly will cause anti-overfill device to become free. Remove fuel cut-off solenoid. Remove and label main jets and pilot jets. See Fig 1 .

   NOTE: DO NOT  remove or change settings of air by-pass screw and EGR adjusting screw (coated with White paint). They are factory adjusted and sealed.
7. Remove enrichment assembly, disconnect pump rod from throttle shaft lever and remove accelerator pump assembly. Remove sub-EGR valve link retaining clip, washer and spring, detach link and remove sub-EGR valve.
8. Remove 2 main body-to-throttle body screws, separate throttle body from main body and remove gasket. Remove idle speed adjusting screw, spring, washer and packing from throttle body.
9. On all other model carburetors, remove vacuum hose connecting depression chamber to throttle body; accelerator pump rod from throttle lever and dashpot rod (man. trans.) or throttle opener rod (auto. trans.) from free lever.
10. Remove depression chamber rod from secondary throttle lever. Remove 6 cover assembly screws. Four screws connecting cover assembly to main body and 2 connecting to throttle body. See Fig 2 .

11. Remove only main body by lifting cover assembly. Cover cannot be removed because choke unloader rod is connected to throttle shaft. Remove "E" clip where choke unloader rod connects to throttle shaft.
12. DO NOT  remove devices connected to float chamber unless necessary, especially automatic choke system. Remove float pin and float. Remove needle valve by removing screw and retainer that hold needle valve in place.
13. Remove accelerator pump and fuel cut-off solenoid. Further disassembly of carburetor is not required. DO NOT  remove throttle valves or change settings of idle speed or dashpot adjusting screws.
