Test 1 - Checking Diagnostic System For Fault Codes

  1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector. Put system into "Diagnostic Mode". Record all codes.
    NOTE: If fault codes 22, 28, 25 or 26 appear at this time, proceed to CODE-TO-TEST IDENTIFICATION CHART  .
  2. Turn ignition switch off and disconnect the computer 14-wire connector for one minute and then reconnect it. Start engine and run for 2 minutes. Turn engine off. Put system into "Diagnostic Mode". Record all codes.
  3. If same code appears before and after engine is started, the problem still exists. Proceed to CODE-TO-TEST IDENTIFICATION CHART  . If a code does not reappear after the engine is started, the problem no longer exists but was intermittent. Check for loose or corroded wiring connections in the circuit. Use wiring diagram as a guide.
