Ignition Timing Procedure
- Attach a magnetic timing probe or connect a timing light to No. 1 cylinder. Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached.
- With engine at normal operating temperature, disconnect coolant temperature sensor. Radiator fan and "CHECK ENGINE" light should come on.
- Observe basic timing setting. Loosen distributor hold-down bolt and adjust timing if not within 2 degrees of specification given on Emission Control Label. Turn engine off. Remove timing device.
- Reconnect coolant temperature sensor. "CHECK ENGINE" light MUST go out. Erase fault codes using the "ERASE FAULT CODE" mode on a DRB-II. For more information, see appropriate article in COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS section of this manual.
