Quick-Connect Fittings: Installation
CAUTION:
When using ASD Fuel System Test, Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay remains energized for either 7 minutes, until test is stopped, or until ignition switch is turned to OFF position.
CAUTION:
Never install a quick-connect fitting without the retainer being either on fuel tube or already in quick-connect fitting. In either case, ensure retainer locks securely into quick-connect fitting by firmly pulling on fuel tube and fitting to ensure it is secured.
- Using a clean lint-free cloth, clean fuel tube nipple and retainer. Prior to connecting fitting to fuel tube, coat fuel tube nipple with clean 30 weight engine oil.
- Push quick-connect fitting over fuel tube until retainer seats and a click is heard. The plastic quick-connect fitting has windows in sides of casing.
- If they are not visible, retainer was not properly installed. See Fig 1. Do not rely upon the audible click to confirm a secure connection. When the fitting completely attaches to fuel tube, retainer locking ears and fuel tube shoulder are visible in windows.
- Use DRB scan tool ASD Fuel System Test to pressurize fuel system. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. Check for leaks.
