Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

  1. When installing clockspring, snap clockspring onto steering column. If clockspring is not properly positioned. Connect clockspring wire harness connector into instrument panel wire harness. Install steering column shrouds. Ensure clockspring wire harness is inside shrouds. Install tachometer. The front wheels should still be in straight ahead position. Install steering wheel, ensuring to fit flats on hub of steering wheel onto formations on inside of clockspring.
  2. Pull wire harnesses from clockspring through upper and lower holes in steering wheel hub. Tighten steering wheel nut to 3.5 N.m (30 ft. lbs.). Be certain not to pinch wiring between steering wheel and nut. Connect vehicle speed control switch wire connectors. Connect horn lead wire and Air Bag lead wire to Air Bag module. Install Air Bag module and tighten bolts to 9-11 N.m (80-100 INCH lbs.). Connect speed control wires to switches and install switches. Tighten screws to 2 N.m (20 INCH lbs.). DO NOT connect battery negative cable.
