VTSS Indicator Stays On Steady During Arming

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ensure hood is closed and properly aligned. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, THEFT ALARM, VTSS then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read HOOD AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays HOOD AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool displays HOOD AJAR SW: CLOSED, go to step  6 .
  2. Using scan tool, read VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW status. If scan tool does not display VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, go to next step. If scan tool displays VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, replace Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Black 26-pin RKE module connector, located under center of instrument panel top cover. See Figure . Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between RKE module connector terminal No. 24, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect deck lid security switch connector. Deck lid security switch is an integral part of deck lid key cylinder switch and is located behind deck lid lock cylinder. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe security switch connector terminal No. 1, ground circuit (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open on Black wire.
  5. Connect a jumper wire between deck lid security switch connector terminal No. 2, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between RKE module connector terminal No. 23, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace deck lid key cylinder switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Violet/Yellow wire.
  6. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Black 26-pin RKE module connector, located under center of instrument panel top cover. See Figure . Open hood. Disconnect hood ajar switch 2-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between hood ajar switch connector terminal No. 1, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Brown/Tan wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, replace hood switch.
