SYSTEM CHECK
| Perform Check: | Result(s) |

| Put Ignition Switch In RUN | SECURITY Indicator lights for approx. 2 seconds. If indicator does not light go to SECURITY INDICATOR OPEN TEST. |
| Insert ignition key into ignition key lock and turn Ign. Sw. to START | If engine starts, proceed to next step. If engine does not start, proceed to SYMPTOM TABLE . |
| Do the following to check that PASS KEY will detect the use of an incorrect key Shut off engine. Remove hush panel under steering column & disconnect C228 (Two-cavity connector at base of steering column) | " |
| Attempt to start engine. | Engine should not crank. If engine cranks, do Starter Enable Relay Test in System Diagnosis |
| Reconnect C228 & attempt to start eng. again (must be done within 2 minutes of first attempt) | Engine should not crank. If engine cranks, replace PASS Key Decoder Module |
| Turn Ignition Sw. to OFF Wait 4 minutes & turn Ign. Sw. to START | Engine starts normally |
| Replace hush panel | Check Complete |
