Steering Rack Thrust

Raise vehicle and center steering. Loosen lock nut and turn adjuster plug clockwise until it bottoms in housing. Back off adjuster 30-40 degrees. Check steering for freedom of movement. Hold adjuster and tighten lock nut to specification. If rack assembly is out of vehicle check pinion preload using a 15 mm crow's foot and a torque wrench. Maximum preload is 16 INCH Lbs. (1.8 N.m).
