Code 116 - TCS Enable Relay Coil Circuit Open: Notes

Ignition voltage is supplied through ASR/TCS relay. EBTCM is then able to energize the pull-in coil by completing the ground circuit at EBTCM ASR/TCS relay control terminal, supplying power to motors and solenoids.

Code 116 can only be set after Code 114 has been set. This test detects an open in ASR/TCS relay coil circuit. An open in this circuit will not allow ASR/TCS relay to be energized. If malfunction is present and ignition is turned off before 3 MPH is reached, Code 114 is set by itself.

If code is stored, TCS is disabled and TCS warning light illuminated. The BRAKE warning light is illuminated if TCS is active at time of malfunction.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests.
  1. Indicates EBTCM is capable of controlling ASR/TCS relay when commanded.
  2. Ensures that voltage is available to pull-in coil of ASR/TCS relay.
  3. Ensures that continuity is present through the pull-in coil of ASR/TCS.
  4. Verifies integrity of relay control circuit.
  5. Ensures malfunction was not due to poor terminal contact.
