Trouble Shooting Hints

On all models, note condition of SECURITY indicator light. If indicator stays on or flashes continuously, see ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM in appropriate ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT article. Check starter solenoid terminals and battery grounds. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment. Perform self-diagnostic system test, to be certain no trouble codes are stored in PCM memory which may lead to misdiagnosis. See TESTS W/CODES - 3.8L article or see TESTS W/CODES - 5.7L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.

Check fusible link "E", located above right shock tower. If fusible link "E" is open, check for a short to ground in Yellow wire between ignition switch connector C2, terminal "A", theft deterrent relay connector terminal C1, and clutch start switch connector terminal "B" (M/T only) or transmission range switch connector terminal "E" (A/T only). Also check for a short to ground in Purple wire between theft deterrent relay connector terminal A2 and starter solenoid terminal "S". Check for the presents of DTC code P1626 (theft deterrent system fuel enable circuit).
