Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Aztek and 2002 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Align the endgate to the vehicle, with an assistant.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the endgate hinge bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the endgate hinge bolts to 33 N.m (28 lb ft).

  3. Install the endgate rear panel molding. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR PANEL .
  4. Install the endgate wiring harness.
  5. Install the endgate weatherstrip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - End Gate .
  6. Install the endgate lock cylinder. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replacement - End Gate .

  7. Install the liftgate latches. Refer to Latch Replacement - Lift Gate (Aztek)  or Latch Replacement - Lift Gate (Rendezvous) .
  8. Install the endgate latches. Refer to Latch Replacement - End Gate 
  9. Install the endgate bellcrank. Refer to Bellcrank Replacement - End Gate .
  10. Install the endgate handle. Refer to Handle Replacement - End Gate .
  11. Install the endgate water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - End Gate .
  12. Install the endgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - End Gate .
