Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (2.2L (L61) and 2.4L (LAT)) .
  2. Remove the manifold exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (3.5L (L66)) .
  3. IMPORTANT: The exhaust and catalytic converter heat shields overlap and utilize common rivet attachment points.
  4. Remove the exhaust heat shield nut.
  5. Drill out the exhaust heat shield rivets.
  6. Remove the exhaust heat shield.
