Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.
- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (2.2L (L61) and 2.4L (LAT)) .
- Remove the manifold exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (3.5L (L66)) .
- Remove the exhaust heat shield nut.
- Drill out the exhaust heat shield rivets.
- Remove the exhaust heat shield.
IMPORTANT:
The exhaust and catalytic converter heat shields overlap and utilize common rivet attachment points.
