Compressor Sealing Washers: Installation

  1. Remove the cap or tape from the discharge hose. See Figure . Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant hose and the A/C refrigerant component.
  2. NOTE: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.
  3. Install a new sealing washer to the discharge hose. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor discharge port. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
  4. Install the discharge hose to compressor nut. Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Remove the cap or tape from the suction hose. Install a new sealing washer to the suction hose.
  5. Connect the suction hose to the compressor. Install the suction hose to compressor nut. Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install the air baffle. Install the air baffle bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specified torque. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Lower the vehicle.
  7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
