Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering knuckle (2) to the vehicle.

  2. Install the upper ball joint. Refer to Upper Ball Joint Replacement .
  3. Install the lower ball joint. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement .
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  5. Install the park brake cable retaining bolt (3) to the steering knuckle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

  6. Install the wheel hub and bearing. Refer to Wheel Hub and Bearing Replacement .
  7. Install the outer tie rod retaining nut to the steering knuckle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 55 N.m (40 lb ft).

  8. Install the outer tie rod retaining bracket (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bracket to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

  9. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Perform a four wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/Rear Wheel Steering) or Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/o Rear Wheel Steering) in Wheel Alignment.
