Test B: Content Theft Deterrent Does Not Disarm With Key Lock

  1. If theft deterrent diagnostic systems check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic systems check has not been performed, go to THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe door key cylinder unlock and liftgate key cylinder (if equipped), unlock parameters from Body Control Module (BCM) inputs data list. If each key cylinder unlock switch parameter displays INACTIVE, go to next step. If each key cylinder unlock switch parameter does not display INACTIVE, go to step  4.
  3. Using scan tool, observe door key cylinder unlock and liftgate key cylinder (if equipped), unlock parameters from Body Control Module (BCM) inputs data list. Insert and rotate key in each door key cylinder activating each door key cylinder unlock switches. If equipped insert and rotate key in liftgate key cylinder to activate liftgate key cylinder unlock switch. If each key cylinder unlock switch parameter displays ACTIVE when key is rotated, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems. See PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS. If each key cylinder unlock switch parameter does not display ACTIVE when key is rotated, go to step  8.
  4. If only liftgate key cylinder unlock parameter displays INACTIVE, go to next step. If liftgate key cylinder unlock parameter does not display INACTIVE, go to step  7.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver's door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Driver's door lock cylinder switch is located behind driver's door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cylinder unlock parameter from BCM inputs data list. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step  11.
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect passenger's front door lock cylinder switch harness connector. Passenger's door lock cylinder switch is located behind passenger's front door panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cylinder unlock parameter from BCM inputs data list. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step  14. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to step  10.
  7. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect tailgate door lock cylinder switch 2-pin harness connector. Tailgate lock cylinder switch is located behind tailgate trim panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cylinder unlock parameter from BCM inputs data list. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to step  14. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to step  11.
  8. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper wire between suspect lock cylinder switch harness connector terminals "A" and "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cylinder unlock parameter from BCM inputs data list. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool displays ACTIVE, go to step  14.
  9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper wire between ground and suspect lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe cylinder unlock parameter from BCM inputs data list. If scan tool displays ACTIVE, go to step  13. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE, go to step  12.
  10. Check for short to ground in Purple wire at suspected door lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  15.
  11. Check for short to ground in Purple wire at tailgate lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "A". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  15.
  12. Check for open or short to voltage in Purple wire at suspected door lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  15.
  13. Check for open or short to voltage in Purple wire at tailgate lock cylinder switch harness connector terminal "B". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  15.
  14. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in suspect door or tailgate lock cylinder harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  16.
  15. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in BCM harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  18. If no problem is found, go to step  17.
  16. Replace suspect door lock assembly or liftgate lock cylinder. See DOOR LOCK CYLINDER  or TAILGATE LOCK CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  18.
  17. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - AZTEK article. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  18. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2.
