Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: When removing connectors, inspect for damage or corrosion. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector:
  • PPS module
  • SDM
  • PPS module harness connector
  • SDM wiring harness connector
  1. Ignition ON, verify no PPS DTCs are set.
  2. Verify the correct PPS part number is installed in the vehicle.
    • If the incorrect PPS is installed, replace with the correct PPS.
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the PPS module.
  4. Ignition OFF, test for less then 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater then the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. Reconnect all PPS components and perform the passenger presence system rezero procedure.
  7. Clear all DTCs and operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC. DTC B0081 should not set.
    • If DTC B0081 sets, replace the PPS.
