DTC B1000: Body Control Module Malfunction: Testing

  1. If Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCS function and retrieve any BCM DTCs. If DTC B1000 is retrieved as a current DTC, go to next step. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is okay at this time.
  3. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacing BCM, go to next step.
  4. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle through conditions which set DTC. If DTC resets, go to step  2 . If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time.
