Fuel Injectors: Removal

- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD .
- Before removing fuel rail, clean fuel rail and surrounding area of cylinder head with a spray type engine cleaner, such as GM X-30A. DO NOT use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). Solvents containing MEK may damage fuel system components.
- Disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. Disconnect fuel feed and return lines at fuel rail. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS .
- Disconnect fuel injector harness in-line connector. Remove fuel rail retaining bolts. Remove fuel rail from cylinder head. Disconnect fuel injector harness connector(s). Remove fuel injector retaining clip(s). See Fig 1. Remove fuel injector(s) from fuel rail. Remove fuel injector "O" rings and discard.
