Fuel Tank: Removal

- Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Raise and support vehicle. Remove fuel tank shield (if equipped). See Figure.
- Loosen fuel fill pipe hose clamp at fuel tank. Disconnect fuel fill pipe at fuel tank. Drain as much fuel as possible from fuel tank using a hand-operated pump or equivalent. Disconnect harness connectors from fuel tank pressure sensor and EVAP vent valve. See Figure.
- Disconnect EVAP vapor pipe and EVAP vent valve pipe from EVAP canister. See Figure. Disconnect fuel feed and return lines to fuel tank. See FUEL LINE DISCONNECT FITTINGS .
- Cap fuel lines and EVAP pipes to prevent possible fuel system contamination. Support fuel tank. Remove fuel tank strap retaining bolts and fuel tank straps. Carefully lower fuel tank for access to fuel tank sending unit harness connector. Disconnect fuel tank sending unit harness connector. Remove fuel tank.
