Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

CAUTION: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.
  1. If you are reinstalling the original sensor, or if you are installing a new sensor without a sealer, coat the threads with Sealer (P/N 9985253), or equivalent.
  2. Install the ECT sensor. Tighten the ECT sensor specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect the ECT sensor harness connector.
  4. Close the radiator drain cock. Tighten radiator drain cock to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the water pump drain plug if necessary. Tighten the water pump drain plug to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Fill and bleed the cooling system as necessary. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.

  1. Coat the threads with Sealer (P/N 9985253), or equivalent.
  2. Carefully install the ECT sensor. Tighten the sensor to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect the ECT sensor harness connector.
  4. Refill and bleed cooling system as necessary. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under COOLING SYSTEM.
