Throttle Body: Installation
NOTE:
Identification number is stamped on throttle body. Use identification number to order replacement components.
- Install the new gasket to the intake manifold. Install the throttle body/throttle actuator control assembly to the intake manifold. Reinstall throttle body/throttle actuator control assembly retaining bolt and nuts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Reconnect the throttle body/throttle actuator control assembly electrical connector. Reconnect the mass airflow electrical connector. Reinstall the air intake duct to the throttle body/throttle actuator control assembly. Refill cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEM.
CAUTION:
DO NOT soak the throttle body in cold immersion type cleaner. The throttle valve has a factory applied sealing compound (DAG material is applied to the outside edge of the valve and the throttle bore) to prevent air bypass at closed throttle. Strong solvents or brushing will remove the material. To clean the throttle body following disassembly, use a spray type cleaner such as GM X-66A or GM 1052626 (Canadian P/N 993026). Use a shop towel to remove heavy deposits. The TP sensor and the IAC valve are electrical components and should not come in contact with solvent or cleaner, as damage may result.
- Clean the gasket sealing surfaces. Install the throttle body with a new gasket. Install the throttle body attaching bolts and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect the coolant hose to the radiator. Connect the coolant hose at throttle body.
- Connect the accelerator control cable to the throttle body lever. Connect the cruise control cable to the throttle body lever. Connect the crankcase ventilation hose to the throttle body. Connect the throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve electrical connectors. Install the air intake duct.
- Connect the intake air temperature sensor and the mass airflow sensor electrical connectors. Refill the cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING under COOLING SYSTEM. With the engine off, inspect to see that the accelerator pedal is free. Depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and release.
