Frame Replacement: Installation

  1. Using 0.630" (16 mm) dowel pins in the alignment holes (1), align the engine frame (2) with the body.
  2. Install the engine frame insulator fasteners (3) to secure the engine frame (2) to the vehicle. See Figure. Tighten the fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove the jack stands supporting the engine frame. See Figure.
  4. Install the 2 rear transaxle mount-to-frame fasteners. See Figure. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the front transaxle mount-to-frame fastener. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Install the fasteners in order to retain the rack and pinion to the vehicle. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the brackets securing the power steering lines to the frame. See appropriate POWER RACK & PINION article in STEERING.
  8. Connect the ball joints to the steering knuckle. See appropriate FRONT article in SUSPENSION.
  9. Install the ABS module to the bracket on left front. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
  10. Reconnect the AIR pumps. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  11. Install the front tires and wheels.
  12. Remove the engine support fixture from the vehicle.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Test drive the vehicle in order to ensure there are no performance issues.
