Steering Wheel Controls
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Temperature and fan speed are adjustable from control switches on the steering wheel. When either function is selected, AUTO mode is disabled and manual control is activated. Power to the steering wheel controls is delivered from the Dash Integration Module (DIM), through the instrument panel fuse box and air bag clockspring. When the temperature or fan control switch is moved up or down, voltage is sent through a series of resistors. Varied voltage is sent through air bag clockspring to the dash integration module. Once the signal is received at the DIM, information is sent to the Instrument Panel Module (IPM) where the Air Temperature Actuator or fan speed is adjusted.
