Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT: When removing a power window switch, the ignition switch must be in the OFF position. This will eliminate the possibility of shorting out the power window switch if a flat-bladed tool, awl, or metal object is used to remove the power window switch from the wiring harness.
IMPORTANT: The front end of the mounting plate (by mirror select switch) has a hard plastic lip. The mounting plate must be slid to the rear to remove this front retaining lip.
  1. Apply protective coating/tape at the rear of the front door power window switch mounting plate (right and/or left door).
  2. Remove the front door power window switch mounting plate from the front door trim panel using a small, flat bladed tool, inserted at the rear of the front door mounting plate.

Press forward in order to release the mounting plate.

  3. Remove the front door power window switch from the mounting plate.
  4. Remove the power mirror switch.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front door power mirror switch.
