Installation Procedure

  1. Install the inflatable restraint module (1) to the I/P

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the mounting bolts (2) to the inflatable restraint module.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  4. Connect the yellow 2-way pigtail connector to the inflatable restraint module.
  5. Install the CPA to the yellow 2-way pigtail connector on the inflatable restraint module.

  6. Install the air distributor duct. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Chevrolet) or Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Pontiac) in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  7. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Chevrolet) or Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) (Pontiac) in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 .
  9. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .
