- If vehicle theft deterrent diagnostic system test has been performed, go to next step. If vehicle theft deterrent diagnostic system test has not been performed, go to VEHICLE THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, near steering column. Momentarily turn ignition switch to START position (do not start engine) and release ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, select BCM DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If DTC B2960 is set as a current DTC, go to next step. If DTC B2960 is not set as a current DTC, perform this procedure while wiggling related wiring and connectors. This can often cause malfunction to appear.
- If scan tool displays DTC B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958, perform appropriate diagnostic test for DTC(s) displayed. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If DTC B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958 are not displayed, go to next step.
- If Passlock(tm) sensor has been replaced on vehicle, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) sensor has not been replaced on vehicle, go to step 6 . reprogram Passlock(tm) sensor. See PASSLOCK(tm) LEARN PROCEDURE . If Passlock(tm) sensor has not been replaced, go to next step.
- If Passlock(tm) learn procedure has been performed after replacing Passlock(tm) sensor, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) learn procedure has not been performed after replacing Passlock(tm), go to step 9 .
- Using scan tool, observe PASSLOCK(tm) DATA VOLTAGE for one minute. If PASSLOCK(tm) DATA VOLTAGE changes more than .02 volt, go to next step. If PASSLOCK(tm) DATA VOLTAGE does not change more than .02 volt, go to step 9 .
- Disconnect Passlock(tm) sensor 3-pin harness connector. Passlock(tm) sensor is located in ignition lock cylinder. Check for poor connections and loose or corroded terminals at Passlock(tm) sensor harness connector. If problem is not found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 10 .
- Replace Passlock(tm) sensor. See PASSLOCK(tm) LOCK CYLINDER/IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Program Passlock(tm) sensor. See PASSLOCK(tm) LEARN PROCEDURE under PROGRAMMING. After programming, go to next step.
- Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Momentarily turn ignition switch to START position (do not start engine) and release ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, select BCM DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If DTC B2960 does not reset, system is okay. If DTC B2960 resets, go to step 3 .
