Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2004 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other impurities from the mounting surface.
  2. Install the side impact sensor (1) to the center pillar (3).
  3. Tighten the 2 fasteners (2) on the side impact sensor (1).
  4. Connect the yellow 2-way harness connector on the side impact sensor.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the CPA to the yellow 2-way connector on the side impact sensor and tighten using only hand tools.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the center pillar lower trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lower Center Pillar (Impala) in Interior Trim.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 2 (Impala)  or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 2 (Monte Carlo) .
