Installation Procedure

Tie the wire or string to the hood release cable.
Install the hood release cable to the vehicle.

Pull the hood release cable through the dash until the grommet is seated in the hole.
Install the grommet into the dash.

Install the hood release cable retainers to the engine compartment side rail.

Install the hood release cable retainers to the upper tie bar.

Connect the hood release cable to the hood latch.

Install the air cleaner.
- For the 3.4 L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
- For the 3.8 L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
Install the hood release cable to the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Handle Replacement .
Install the carpet back to its original position.
Remove the block from the hood latch.
Inspect the hood release cable for proper operation before closing the hood.
Close the hood.
