Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the suspension knuckle (2) to the lower control arm (3) ball joint stud. See Figure. Refer to REAR AXLE LOWER CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT .
  2. Install the suspension knuckle ball joint stud (2) to the upper control arm (1). Refer to REAR AXLE UPPER CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT .
  3. Install the spindle nut, washer and retainer. Refer to AXLE SHAFTS .
  4. Install the outer tie rod end to the suspension knuckle. See Fig 1. Refer to TIE ROD REPLACEMENT (OUTER END)  or TIE ROD REPLACEMENT (SUSPENSION LINK)  .
  5. Install the brake rotor and caliper. Refer to REAR BRAKE ROTOR .
  6. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector. See Figure.
  7. Connect the shock absorber solenoid electrical connector, if equipped. See Figure.
  8. Connect the ESC sensor link, if equipped. See Figure.
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRES AND WHEELS article.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Perform a rear wheel alignment. For 2003, refer to MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT in SPECIFICATIONS article. For 2004, refer to MEASURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT in SPECIFICATIONS article.
