Removal Procedure

Lower the midgate window.
Remove the rear floor trim panel. Refer to Trim Cover Replacement - Rear Floor Trim Panel in Interior Trim.
Open the midgate.

Lift up the midgate sliding hinge filler panel. Slide the panel retainers (1) up to hold the sliding panel in position.
Lift the midgate until the holes in the hinge assembly are in alignment.
Install 5 mm (0.196 in) pins (2) or allen wrench through the holes in each hinge (1) to support the midgate.

Disconnect the midgate electrical connector (1).
With an assistant supporting the midgate, remove the nuts (2) retaining the midgate hinges to the floor.
With an assistant, remove the midgate (3) from the vehicle.
