Installation Procedure

  1. Place the selector lever assembly in the vehicle.

  3. Slightly raise the selector lever assembly; then connect the T/C switch connector (1).
  4. Rotate the selector lever indicator lamp (2) clockwise to install the lamp assembly in the selector lever assembly.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  7. Install the 4 retaining nuts (2) on the selector lever assembly.

    Tighten:  Tighten the retaining nuts to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  9. Slide the trunnion (6), sleeve (5) and insulator (4) on the end of the selector linkage.
  10. Loosely install the shift linkage adjusting bolt (1) and the washers on the selector lever (8).
  11. Ensure that the transmission and the selector lever assembly are both in the Park position.
  12. Tighten the shift linkage adjusting bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the retaining nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Install the front console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Console in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  15. Enable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 8 in SIR.
